Happy Dussehra 2020: The festival of Vijaya Dashami or Dussehra marks the end of Durga Puja, and the nine days of Navratri. For some, it’s the celebration of Goddess Durga’s annihilation of demon king Mahishasura, while others celebrate it to mark the triumph of Lord Ram over Ravan. In either case, however, the victory is of good over evil, which forms the core of the festival celebrated across India.
Traditionally, Dussehra is celebrated by burning effigies of Ravana, his demon brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad. Firecrackers are then lit to symbolise the destruction of evil.
This year, Dussehra will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 8.
